For Adults

Orthodontic treatment can be successful at any age and adults especially appreciate the benefits of a beautiful smile. One of every five patients in orthodontic treatment is over 21. Many adult patients are concerned with being "too old" for braces and are hesitant to have metal braces on their teeth because of how they will look. There are aesthetic options to the traditional "silver" braces which include white, ceramic braces and the Invisalign® system which straightens teeth with the use of clear aligners and not with braces. Jaw surgery is sometimes required for adult orthodontic patients if the jaw bones are severely malpositioned because their jaws are not growing. Adults also may have experienced some breakdown or loss of their teeth and bone that supports the teeth and may require periodontal treatment before, during, and/or after orthodontic treatment. Bone loss can also limit the amount and direction of tooth movement that is advisable. Dr. Lee works closely with the general dentist and other dental specialists to provide the most best treatment with the most esthetic result.
